If you are using an egg/sperm donor or a gestational carrier, your clinic typically requests a psychological evaluation to assess the donor candidate’s ability to participate in the donation process. A clinical interview and psychological tests are used to determine the candidate’s suitability and written feedback is sent back to the referring clinic.
Your clinic usually also requires that you and your partner consult with a psychologist prior to proceeding. A joint meeting with the donor or gestational carrier may also be required to make sure potential issues are discussed openly prior to moving forward.
